Its never even just after they died, or recently possessed someone, and i know its bc of brimstone and hellfire and stuff

but its just always there whenever there was a demon did anything

where is it found?

where'd it come from?

does it just fucking fall off their skin?

Dean finds out something about Sam he never knew before -- Amongst other things.

They stand there, for what feels like forever, while the other waits for someone to make a move. He is waiting for me, Sam realises. Dean won't be the first one to make the move, he wants it to happen, so bad. He would never be the first one to make that choice, Dean wanted to drag Sam down to hell with him, but only if Sam did it with a smile.

In their childhood, there were no distractions, no friends, just each other. Of course they ended up fucking in a run-down neon lit hotel room at 3am after going out to the bar and picking fights for money. There was no way around it. But John didn’t want to see the product of his neglect, he wanted to pretend. And he would fucking pretend until the day he died.

i wonder if there’s a universe where mary took the deal, but never had sam, only dean. so mary never held up her end of the bargain. do they live a normal life? does azazel come back to collect his due in some other way? maybe he takes dean. idk

There was something to be said for being the youngest. Asmodeus had dozens of legions at his beck and call, of course; it came with his station, but there was… none of the responsibility. Hell, no one besides Azazel had ever taken on a lick of responsibility after their Father had been Caged: always Daddy’s favorite little general, begging and suckling on every little whisper through the bars he managed to hear, crowing and strutting along to the beat of a cold and distant drum. 

Asmodeus had been content to let Lucifer rot in there, if he was being perfectly honest with himself. After the Shedim, after he’d felt claws and feathers colder than absolute zero rip wounds so deep into his true form they showed on every damned vessel he took, he knew that the reason they’d all Fallen was gone and that all that was left in Lucifer’s head was mindless rage and hopeless love for the God who’d cast them all out.

Fine, then. He could have it his way, have his damn cake and eat it too, have his fun with his Knights and with pushing the envelope further and further until God wasn’t content with him being exiled from Heaven alone, anymore, until he had to be imprisoned in Hell. Just desserts, in Asmodeus�� mind, though of course he’d wept and fought with the rest of them. Ramiel and Dagon left, after that; good for them. Azazel took up Lucifer’s banner, and Asmodeus was content with what portion of Hell he’d carved out for himself, freed up for his experiments with grace and soul and blood and bone.

i miss the grainy over exposed bright camera quality and the dramatic side effects

s1 is just. i love you grainy unfocused shots of cemeteries and foggy roads no one travels. i love you john’s journal as a bible. i love you sam driving the impala casually with dean sleeping in the passenger seat. i love you dark motels with neon signs and dusty libraries with huge lore books. i love you side character serving as a mirror to the winchesters. i love you cleaning guns and wounds and sharpening of knives and gas stations and flip phones and laptop stickers. i love you small towns where time stands still with something unknowable and hungry lurking in the shadows. i love you angry psychic kid sam and dean trying his best with a leather jacket too big for him. i love you looming presences of john and mary. i love you homemade and flawed equipment. i love you horror and tragedy and blood. i love you dramatic lighting and silhouettes. i love you folklore and local legends. i love you -

au where john doesn't go missing, dean never gets sam from stanford, and almost five years from when sam walked out on them and never looked back, dean gets a call from a sobbing woman telling him that sam's missing and she needs his help

dean and john go to palo alto where they meet jessica, an engagement ring and a thin gold band on her left hand, which is how they find out that there's one more person out there carrying the winchester name

they don't even get to linger over the fact that sam's married, that they're talking to his wife, because she tells him that he just disappeared, that she came home and he was missing but their living room was covered in sulpher

she tells him about the past two years, about how sam has been getting visions of other psychic children like him, some who had mothers that died in their nursery at six months, others that didn't. they met a lot of them, kept in regular contact, but the past few months they've been disappearing one by one and now sam's gone too

(jess keeps the telekinesis to herself, keeps the information about the demon to herself, doesn't breathe a word about the mind control or the super strength or electric shock or any of things that the other children could do that they'd been slowly testing to see if sam could do too. she's gone to dean and john because she has to but she doesn't forget that there's a reason sam hadn't gone to them when this all started happening, that instead he'd come clean to her about every lie about his life and told her to run, that something was coming for her and for him too

dean is losing his mind, all these things about his brother that he didn't know about and has to deal with, meanwhile john is quietly having a little mental breakdown, realizing this is the moment, where if he can't save his son then he's going to have to kill him

jess refuses to be left behind, reminds them pointedly that she's sam's wife and they're either doing this with her or not all

so dean and john have to deal with their sister in law / daughter in law tagging along and helping them track sam all while obviously not liking or trusting them an inch

i am obsessed with ruby supernatural as being one of the most unwaveringly devout characters on the show. so many angels and demons act in their own self-interest, disillusioned by god or lucifer or archangels or the entire structure of the afterlife. fine. but RUBY?!? a human. a witch. sells her soul. dedicates her life to lucifer. in death she is tortured and molded and shaped into a demon. and yet she still worships. she is recruited into the ultimate satanic plan, cast as the delilah of the apocalypse. she spends multiple years publicly siding with the beloathed winchesters, being seen as a traitor to her kind. being hunted. being tortured repeatedly at the hands of her brethren for treason. painstakingly slowly seducing sam, convincing sam. luring sam to enact the plan. she lets sam drink her blood. so much blood. she is the sacrificial lamb. she is the best of those sons of bitches. all to be killed. and she knows this. she has to have known this. and she doesn't care. she's done it, the holy work. incredible character.

Rip Azazel… I missed having a villain who was just constantly saying ‘Sam is my bestest, most favourite boy, the littlest meow meow ever, the centre of the world’. I think all SPN villains should follow his example
